Nathan is an experienced preacher, counselor, and community organizer. He has dedicated his personal and professional labor to the simple idea that transparency and empathy can save lives and heal communities.
He most recently served as the 29th Senior Pastor of the historic First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Nathan is invested in partnering with others who believe West Michigan can become a reflection of the beloved community - a place where all are truly welcome.
Ask him anything about music, early 20th century architecture, play as pedagogy, inter-generational worship or his passion for defending the pristine forests and waterways of Michigan.
Nathan is also (and most importantly) the delighted papa of Jo (5), Teddy (3), and Natalie (3 mos.) and has found a courageous life partner in Dr. Heather Dannison. Together they happily romp through the swampy hinterlands and sandy beaches of West Michigan.
